As you navigate this incredible area, take note that ancient, local traditions still take place here, like they have for thousands of years. The phenomenon known as transhumance is when shepherds travel with livestock across the mountains, in accordance with the seasonal changes, in order for the animals to have good grazing areas. This can still be seen in these parts of the world, from spring until autumn.

Bucegi Natural park and ticket information

Malaiesti Valley is nestled within the Bucegi Natural Park, a haven for biodiversity and a sanctuary for nature enthusiasts. As you traverse the pristine landscapes, be mindful that the park is protected, and from time to time, you may encounter local rangers dedicated to preserving its natural beauty.

To support the conservation efforts, a nominal ticket fee of 2EUR is required for entry into the park. Tickets can be conveniently purchased online through the Bucegi Natural Park website or in person upon arrival.

A sturdy helmet is essential for protection, and carrying a fully charged phone ensures communication in case of emergencies.

Stay fuelled and hydrated throughout the day by packing around 1 litre of water or hot tea, along with snacks or easy-to-carry food. From the hut, you can purchase warm soup, coffee, sweets, and additional water to supplement your provisions.
